Surface Air Pressure
DATASET DESCRIPTION
The daily surface air pressure data over Ontario, provided at 2 meters above the surface, are available from 1996 to 2023. The data is offered in full-coverage gridded maps with spatial resolutions 0.01° x 0.01° and 0.1° x 0.1°. These datasets are derived from the ERA5-Land reanalysis, which integrates model data and global observations to create a consistent and reliable dataset.
Surface air pressure plays a key role in weather forecasting and climate studies, as it influences atmospheric circulation patterns, weather systems, and the formation of high and low-pressure areas. This data helps in understanding weather patterns, storm prediction, and other atmospheric phenomena.
The accuracy of the ERA5 surface air pressure data is validated in Muñoz-Sabater et al. (2021).
