Daily Mean Nitro Dioxide (NO2)

DATASET DESCRIPTION

The dataset for Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) levels over Ontario is available at a daily resolution, presented on a 0.1°x0.1° gridded map spanning from 2004 to 2023. The NO2 concentrations were estimated using EAC4 and MERRA-2 reanalysis datasets, which are among the most trusted in atmospheric composition research. Additionally, meteorological data from ERA5-land and ground-based measurements were incorporated into the Light Gradient-Boosting Machine model to improve estimation accuracy. To address the limited ground-based NO2 stations in Ontario, measurements from nearby areas were used as an initial reference point. The model also incorporated rich spatiotemporal data, including surrounding grid pixels and data from adjacent days, to enhance the spatial and temporal precision of NO2 estimates.
