The Geoinformatics of Spatial and Environmental Health (Ge-iSEE) Lab is excited to host a graduate student talk series aimed to fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange across public health, data analytics, machine learning, and remote sensing technologies.
About the Talk Series
Our graduate students, Ashlee Kim, Nicholas Grubic, and Joey Zang, will present their cutting-edge research, which spans large-scale population databases, novel epidemiological designs, and the application of advanced geospatial models in environmental health. Their talks will cover the following topics:
- “Comparing ICES, CCHS, and UK BioBank Databases: Implications for Environmental Epidemiological Research” – Ashlee Kim
- “Ambient temperature and COVID-19 emergency department visits in Ontario, Canada: A population-based case-crossover study with distributed lag nonlinear models” – Nicholas Grubic
- “Mapping daily surface ozone over Ontario during 2004-2023 using a two-step machine learning model” – Joey Zang
In addition to these presentations, presenters, team members, and other attendees will have the opportunity to share their insights, ask questions, and discuss innovative ideas related to environmental health research. This series aims to highlight the latest advancements in environmental exposure assessments and health risk estimation methodologies, with the goal of advancing population health research through the integration of epidemiological and geospatial data, along with emerging technologies.
We look forward to engaging discussions and valuable contributions that will enrich the collective understanding of environmental health challenges and solutions.
