
Emilie Terebessy. During Emilie’s undergraduate years at the University of Toronto from 2018-2019, she worked as a student research assistant with Dr. Erjia Ge, contributing to geospatial data analyses in healthcare accessibility studies. Additionally, she provided support as a Graduate Student Library Assistant UofT’s Map and Data Library, specializing in geospatial information systems and statistical software.
Emilie later went on to work within Dr. Teresa To’s team at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario where she is currently a Clinical Research Project Manager. Jianhui Gao (he/him) was a vital part of the Ge-iSEE lab during his MSc studies in Biostatistics at the University of Toronto from 2020 to 2021, working closely with Dr. Erjia Ge. He served as a dedicated student research assistant, contributing to the development of statistical models for the China-Bill Gates TB project. His exceptional work resulted in publications in prestigious journals such as Thorax and the Science of the Total Environment.
Jianhui’s outstanding contributions were recognized when he received the COVID-19 Student Engagement Award in 2021, highlighting his dedication to impactful research. Nick (Zhiyong) Huang served as a dedicated student research assistant, collaborating with Dr. Erjia Ge on a CIHR operating grant project from 2019 to 2021. His role involved the estimation of travel times to the nearest hospital using advanced geospatial models, and the outcomes of this study were published in BMJ Open.
Nick’s academic journey began with his Honors Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics, and he is currently on the path to becoming a graduate teacher candidate at the University of Toronto while pursuing his Master of Teaching degree. Gloria Ho (she/her) is a promising first-year MSc Biostatistics student at the renowned Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto. Currently, she is engaged in an impactful practicum project under the supervision of Dr. Erjia Ge, which focuses on investigating the intricate relationship between air pollution, greenness, and mortality among cancer patients. She uses advanced statistical regression such as time-varying Cox models, leveraging comprehensive CCHS and CANUE data sources.
