Laboratory Leads

Dr. Erjia Ge is a Spatial Epidemiologist with a multidisciplinary background in Computer Science, Public Health, and Geography. Her research leverages geoinformatics and population-based studies to inform policies that reduce environmental exposure and improve health outcomes.
Dr. Ge develops spatial and spatiotemporal methods to assess health impacts of exposures, such as air pollution, greenness, and weather. She contributes to data and methodological platforms supporting research on environmental and infectious diseases.
Her extensive collaborations include SickKids, CANUE, ICES, Public Health Ontario, Health Canada, and international partners in the United States, United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Mainland China. Her work is funded by Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR), New Frontier in Research Fund, and Hong Kong Research Grant Council (HK-RGC).

Dr. Jane Liu is a leading researcher focused on the critical intersection of air quality and human health. She studies key pollutants like O3, NO2, PM2.5, and black carbon, unraveling the atmospheric processes behind pollution events – including emission, formation, and transport – using advanced atmospheric models. Her research integrates data from surface measurements, aircraft, satellite imagery, and more.
Dr. Liu has authored over 130 peer-reviewed articles in top journals like Science Advances and Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics, earning more than 8,000 citations and an H-index of 48 (Google Scholar, 2023). At Ge-iSEE, she leads efforts to develop high-resolution air quality databases, critical for studying the long-term impacts of pollution on public health.

Dr. Lennon Li is a biostatistician with over a decade of experience in public health. As a Biostatistical Specialist at Public Health Ontario, he applies advanced statistical methods to public health challenges, developing tools for disease surveillance and forecasting. Lennon holds a Ph.D. in Biostatistics and an H.B.Sc in Computer Science from the University of Toronto, with a focus on spatial statistics.
An accredited Professional Statistician with the Statistical Society of Canada, Dr. Li is also an Assistant Professor of Biostatistics at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, where he teaches and supervises graduate students. His current research explores spatial and spatiotemporal data and the role of generative AI in applied statistics and education.
